6 month old doelings- too young to breed?
« on: February 20, 2013, 12:58:22 PM »
Hi guys, what age would you normally breed your maidens? I have read on various sites that as long as they weigh 80 - 90 pounds and then kid about the one- year -old stage, this is the way to go. What do you think of that? I had saanens many years ago and would not breed them until past their second birthday. I am now on a small farmlet and own 2 6-month-old girls.

Hi Hazelgirl, I would personally wait until they are at least 12 months when joining but lots of people (especially those who breed for commercial purposes) would disagree.

I would (and have in the past) wait the 12 months also.
