Mushroom Compost in Soil Preperation June 14, 2017, 01:11:55 PM
I'm new to farming, I have recently purchased 30 acres which I am planning to set up as a small hobby farm. I have tested the soil and it is very acidic I was planning to plough mushroom compost into the fields to help improve soil quality.

Has anyone had any experience with using mushroom compost and if so how much do you think I would need to use per acre of land?

We also have very acidic soil and we have used lime and a dressing of TNN to try and rebalance.
I believe mushroom compost can be used successfully provided you have cheap access to a good source and you would need to check its quality before using it on your full 30 acres.  Will be interested to hear how it works out!

Thanks I'll look at the TNN might be a good option,  I'll still plough in the compost I was considering using about 50 cubic meters per acre. I live down the road from a mushroom farm so I can get it at a good rate.
